New Era of Modeling

There have been whispers about the state of models since about the beginning of this year. Some will remember when Chanel Iman said her piece on it as the CFDA reflected on how much different she was to the models of today. Comments ran along the lines of, before models were muses; they were co-consipirators with designers. This is evident when you watch documentaries like Unzipped and Issac requests things of models.
The models of the past few seasons, years even, have been all the same. We had entered the time of the nameless, faceless model as they all began to look alike. We had left the time of the supermodel, and model as muse, behind and had entered into a time where all models looked, and acted the same. Their sound was the same as well, they were on mute.
Well brands like Proenza Schouler are asking for models" with experience" and top casting agents have informed Cathy Horyn of On The Runway that they are looking for models with personality and more curves. So say goodbye to the status quo and get ready to usher in a new era of modeling. One where we know more about a model than just her pretty face.

Weekend Wish List: Chloé Printed Skirt, ZanZan Sunglasses

This week, the fashion world was excited to hear about the latest H&M collaboration with fashion house Lanvin. The blogosphere has been mixed in reactions: some are just excited to get their hands on Lanvin creative director (and fashion genius) Alber Elbaz's designs, while others are unsure if the collaboration will do Lanvin justice. Let's just hope the collaboration will produce some wardrobe gems!

Codie & Rosemary for Vogue Australia October

This fresh shoot artfully shows the girls in a soft, romantic light as they display the best of lace adorned pieces.

24 Shearling Pieces for Fall/Winter

The fashion world has gone shearling crazy for Fall/Winter this year, and rightly so - what's better than snuggling up in soft shearling jacket on a cold winter morning? The craze hit the catwalks most prominently at Burberry Prorsum, where fashion editors were left baffled: which one to buy first?

Hermés Launches Street Style Site

Hermés have launched a street style website which shows off Hermés pieces in action. Taking to the streets of London, New York, Paris and Tokyo, the site so far includes 6 girls showing off their Hermés pieces, and as well as that, the site also has some fun bits'n'bobs such as some short films about the girls, snippets about their style and their favourite hangout spots.

The site also has a cute 'card' section, where it shows you how to customize a Hermés scarf, and displays more street style pictures of girls on the street showing theirs off. Check out some of the snaps from the site below, and check it out for yourself  at jaimemoncarre.com

This is a really great way of changing their marketing strategy to include a more youthful vibe, and hopefully encourage some fresh customers into their boutiques - I'm already lusting after one of their signature patterned scarf customized into a headband!

Alber Elbaz Confirms Lanvin x H&M

Classic Style: Women in Suits

Let's break this down and be completely honest, it takes a strong woman to wear a pants suit. To trust your femininity so much and have the belief that an androgynous outfit won't steal from the fact that you're all woman takes alot of faith and confidence. When women like Katherine Hepburn, unapologetically, started radically changing the way women were perceived through their dress style things in fashion got a lot more interesting.
